Many facial wrinkles are actually creases that have been formed by making the same expression thousands of times. These “expression lines,” including frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet, are due to the contraction of a muscle under the skin in that area. Using Botox Cosmetic actually causes the muscles responsible for creating the wrinkles to relax, thereby creating smoother, younger looking skin. The results are not permanent but lasts an average of four months for most patients. The patients with the best results are typically, on average, treated three times per year. This allows the skin to stay relaxed and causes the wrinkles to disappear. If at some point you decide to stop Botox Cosmetic treatments, your skin will slowly return to the state it was prior to your first treatment, meaning the lines will slowly return.
The procedure is not painful, only takes about fifteen minutes, and you can return to work or home without anyone knowing. Over the next 5-7 days, the wrinkles will start to soften and your skin will look smoother, younger, and healthier. Many say they look and feel more refreshed and alert. By two weeks, the Botox Cosmetic has taken full effect and you can enjoy a wrinkle free face for the next few months. As your Botox Cosmetic starts to wear off, you will notice the lines slowly returning. That’s when you know it is time for another treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Botox?
Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein toxin produced by the botulinum bacterium, Clostridium. Although Botox is a toxin, it is an extremely safe product with over 20 years of clinical experience when used for aesthetic purposes. Very small amounts are strategically placed to allow for the desired effects.
How is Botox used?
Treatments are administered in units in much the same way that most medications are administered in milligrams. Each of our patients receives a customized treatment and dosage plan. During the consultation, Dr. Pinto will determine the amount needed to treat your areas of concern. The key to a successful treatment is to administer enough units to dramatically improve wrinkles while maintaining a natural expression to the face and to have maximal lasting effects until your next treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
It takes approximately 3 to 7 days for the effects of the Botox to become apparent, however in some patients it may take as long as 14 days. You will return 2 weeks after your initial visit for a follow-up evaluation if needed, at which time additional units of Botox may be injected to achieve the desired result.
Does an injection hurt?
When Botox is injected there is an initial minor sting for a few seconds. Once the injection is complete, there is minimal discomfort. Many patients tell me their treatment was 100% painless.
Where can Botox be injected?
The most common treatment areas are the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal forehead lines, and the crow’s feet. It is also being used more in the lower face to complement filler injections.
How long does a treatment last?
Our patients see results lasting 3 to 5 months, at which time another injection is required. After continued treatments, results may begin to last longer, sometimes up to 6 to 8 months.
Is it affordable?
Yes, Botox Cosmetic is a very affordable treatment. The cost is dependent on the amount of areas that need to be treated, however,it is an individualized treatment and impossible to determine cost prior to your consultation. Our pricing is very aggressive for the Philadelphia/South Jersey market and we know you will be satisfied with not only our pricing, but our results.
Before Treatment Instructions:
To avoid bleeding and bruising, we ask you to try to avoid any aspirin containing products, ibuprofen, naproxen or any NSAID (Tylenol is safe) for 7-10 days prior to your treatment. If you accidentally do take one of these products prior to your treatment, the treatment and the results will not be affected. Abstain from excess alcohol the day prior to your treatment as well.
After Treatment Instructions:
Within 30 minutes after your treatment, there will be little evidence you have anything done. Most of the injections marks will totally dissipate. When using needles, there is always a small chance of bruising, but this tends to be very minimal if any, where most patients will NOT bruise.
