CoolSculpting South Jersey: Fat Reduction Battle with Liposuction

 In Blog, CoolSculpting

It all starts when the pants are becoming too snug around the waist. The gut starts to bulge out a little bit, so you start to wear clothing that provides a little extra room. It’s one thing to hide it, but there are methods available to eliminate stubborn fat.

There are medical centers that offer fat-reducing techniques that have been proven to be effective.  Liposuction has been the people’s choice for many years to achieve the quick result getting rid of visible fat. Since the introduction of liposuction, medical fat reducing alternatives have been introduced to market. The latest alternative is CoolScupting, an FDA approved, safe, and effective process to reduce fat. Both are effective methods, but which method wins the battle of fat reduction?

Procedure vs Process

The major difference between these fat reduction methods is the level of invasiveness. Liposuction is a surgical procedure where a doctor will need to make an incision on the body in order to remove the fat. The patient must be willing to go under anesthesia before the doctor can begin the operation.

CoolScupting is viewed more as a process than a procedure because no surgery is involved. CoolScupting does not require any cuts or incisions into the body. The process works by freezing the fat pockets inside the target areas. This innovative technology will cause the now-frozen fat cells to die and naturally leave your body. Only the unwanted fat cells are targeted, all other cells and tissues are not affected.

Down-Time

When a patient undergoes the procedure of liposuction, the body undergoes a major overhaul. The patient’s body has been opened up and fat has been removed. A period of down-time is recommended for the patient to recover.

CoolSculpting does not require any down-time after sessions. Since the body does not need the time to recover, the patient can continue with their daily routines.

Risky Business

As with any other operation, the procedure of liposuction comes with surgical risks. Since the patient will have to agree to go under anesthesia, the patient could potentially suffer complications related to the drug. The procedure could result in infections, in which the physician will need to prescribe an anti-biotic. If a blood vessel had been ruptured in the procedure, embolism could occur. Nerve complications can develop changes in a patient’s sense of touch. Other minor surgical risks of liposuction include burning, swelling, and skin damage.

The surgical risks of CoolSculpting are non-existent, because no surgery is required. As with alternatives to liposuction, CoolSculpting has shown minimal side effects to the process. The most common side effect of CoolSculpting has been bruising of the targeted areas.

Sessions

CoolSculpting is a process and requires multiple sessions to maximize the benefits. Patients have reported noticing results within the first couple of weeks. The most dramatic results are predicted to occur within months 1-3 with the body continuing to flush out fat cells as long as 4-6 months after treatment.

Liposuction is a one, in some cases two, session procedure with a period of downtime for recovery. The number of sessions plays a role in the cost of each method. Liposuction will require a one-time large sum, whereas CoolSculpting will consist of multiple payments on a smaller scale.

After the procedure of liposuction or process of CoolSculpting, a proper diet and exercise should be implemented to maintain the recent transformation.

Which Method Wins the Battle?

The victor of the fat reduction battle depends on the patient. Both methods are safe to reduce fat, and proper exercise mixed with a healthy nutrition can prolong the results. Most are familiar with liposuction but CoolSculpting is becoming a more popular form of fat reducing treatment for patients wanting minimal surgical risks and no physical incisions to their body.
